All-ceramic or all-porcelain: A better natural color match for the original tooth.

Gold: The only drawback of these crowns is the metallic color. Although probably the strongest, a gold crown would be better used in the back of the mouth for cosmetic purposes.

Porcelain fused to metal: Used when blocking out a dark tooth or as part of a dental bridge and high strength is needed. These have been around for decades and still are excellent.
